Investment Committee Member – Fixed Income

Clint Pelfrey, AIF®, MBA is an Investment Committee Member at Valor Capital Management (Valor). He has more than 27 years of experience in the banking and financial services industries with an emphasis on institutional relationships and family wealth management. Clint has a strong history of developing and implementing comprehensive, customized investment strategies to fit the unique needs of each client.

Prior to joining Valor, Clint served as senior vice president and senior investment officer for Huntington Wealth Advisors. Here he was responsible for the management of investment portfolios for public fund clients such as school districts and municipalities, as well as private schools, colleges and universities. He also managed a broad array of investment portfolios for personal trusts relationships, retirement plans, non-profit organizations, and corporate clients. Clint was also an equity analyst for Huntington’s research team and served as a member of the Fiduciary Funds Committee.

Clint joined Huntington through the acquisition of the Sky Financial Group, where he served as the director of institutional asset management and chair of the Investment Strategy Committee. While at Sky, Clint was instrumental in developing the Sky Trust investment management platform, heading up the Fixed Income Strategy team and managing the Sky Core Fixed Income Funds. He was responsible for overseeing the investment of over $2 billion in assets under management.

After graduating from Ohio State University with a B.S.B.A. in Finance, Clint began his career as an investment officer for The Bank of Delaware, PNC Bank and AVP of Investments for Mellon Private Asset Management. Clint also earned his M.B.A. from the Widener University Graduate School of Business with an emphasis in Economics. After completing his graduate work, Clint became the chief investment officer for The Mahoning National Bank. He was responsible for nearly $850 million in assets under management and led all aspects of portfolio management, strategy development, research, securities trading, compliance and business development.

In addition to more than two decades of investment management experience, Clint is also a graduate of the Cannon Financial Institute’s Investment School, where he received the Accredited Fiduciary Investment Manager (AFIMTM) designation. He also recently completed certification as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF®). During his career, Clint has received numerous awards and accolades for his leadership building, teamwork and business development skills including:

Clint also currently serves as the Co-Chair of the Prosperity Capital Advisors Investment Committee where he manages a broad array of investment strategies and oversees the management of the PCA Investment platform. He is responsible for conducting ongoing economic and market analysis, evaluating allocation strategies, conducting manager and fund due diligence, and determining portfolio management guidelines. Through these efforts, he is part of a team continually striving to provide a truly holistic service and client-focused financial solutions.

Advisors who have earned the Accredited Investment Fiduciary (AIF) designation are able to immediately show that they are interested in and working towards the best interests of their clients. They have gone through training, met the qualifications, and passed the exam allowing use of the AIF designation.

A master of business administration (MBA) is a graduate degree achieved at a university or college that provides theoretical and practical training to help graduates gain a better understanding of general business management functions.
